AIG PSI Jan 2015

The AIG’s Australia PSI was released earlier this morning with the index improving 2.4pts to 49.9 to the highest level seen since August.

Looking through the report 3 of 5 sub-indices recorded an expansion, a reading above 50, with sales (+2.6pts to 50.7), new orders (+1.2pts to 50.7) and employment (+6.4pts to 51.7) managing to offset weaker readings for supplier delivers (-0.2pts to 46.6) and inventory levels (-1.3pts to 46.0).

On an industry-specific basis only 2 of 9 recorded an expansion, health and community services rose to 58.1 while financial and insurance services jumped to 56.6, while retail rose strongly, albeit to only 50.
